Moda Manifattura

A low building with an indigo-painted façade, the name displayed in elegant lettering. We are in Casnate con Bernate, in the province of Como, in the center of the village not far from the parish church. And it is here, in this austere building, that for over 90 years a heart full of colors has been beating, capable of spreading beauty across the world. Achille Pinto S.p.A. is the home of fabrics, scarves, and textile accessories. It has a family history proudly rooted in the territory and in Made in Italy; it carries the name of its founder, who in the 1930s went from being a worker to an entrepreneur, starting with three disused looms, his home’s cellar, and a tradition that is the soul of this land. Founded in 1933, the company passed from Achille Pinto to his children and son-in-law, and then to the three children of the latter, who run it today. For ApritiModa, it will guide guests through an archive that collects over 260,000 items—including coats, printed panels, scarves, original textile designs, vintage and contemporary garments—and 390 volumes of historical designs, enriched by the acquisition of the archives of Giuseppe Menta and Jermi.

There was a time when, in Casnate con Bernate, practically everyone worked at Achille Pinto S.p.A.; every family had at least one employee, and that was a source of pride. Today, among its 400 employees, many come from outside the town. The founder of the textile company had shown courage and vision when, in 1933, he bought three decommissioned looms and moved them into his home cellar, starting his weaving business. Ten years later, the looms had already grown to thirty, and screen printing had been added — marking the beginning of a story of expansion that would reach across the world.

Today, Achille Pinto S.p.A. has two printing facilities and two weaving mills across six production sites and is organized into two main divisions: Clothing, dedicated to producing fabrics for the most prestigious haute couture fashion houses, and Finished Product, specializing in textile and home accessories for luxury clients, as well as clothing items for its own brands: Pierre-Louis Mascia, Franco Ferrari, and Alonpi.

A thousand clients around the world come to create their high- and ultra-high-end products with this Italian company. To get a sense of the pace of work, consider that in 2024, 1,786,000 meters of fabric were printed and 664,000 meters woven. It was the first company to bring twin printing to Italy and has, from the beginning, chosen a symbol of industriousness as its logo: the bee.

At the end of the visit, guests will be able to stop by the Emporium — a sea of colorful fabrics sure to spark the imagination.
