Cappellificio Cervo
Via Libertà, 16, Sagliano Micca (Biella)

Laboratorio / Atelier
The name says it all. Because Cervo is not the name of a family, but the name of the narrow valley and the creek that crosses it - the Cervo Valley, the land of deers. Here, where the crystal clear and pure water of the Cervo is ideal for processing wool, a Cooperative of hatters, which since then has been making top-quality hats all by hand, was born in 1897. The manufacture sign, on the facade of a typical nineteenth-century factory, complete with sheds and chimney, is still there to remember it.

Cappellificio Cervo
Via Libertà, 16, Sagliano Micca (Biella)
There are almost four hundred recipes in the Cappellificio Cervo archive, they are the ones that are still used today to choose the shade of the hat you want to make. Since 1897, when it was founded as a Cooperative Anonymous Society among hatters in the Biella area, to today (owned by the Zegna Group with the Borrione and Caldesi families) it is an institution in the world of hats. It is called this because it stands on the banks of the Cervo river, in the area rich in water which has made the Biella area a territory dedicated to weaving. In the same factory which contains the charm of an industrial past, the expert hands of the hatters move from blowing different varieties of fur to basting into cone shapes, to fulling and dyeing the felt. Then, the necessary steps of shaping, finishing and finishing with ironing on the over 650 shapes collected in over a century of experience. A combination of artistic genius and craftsmanship that in its history has achieved many goals, one of which is being the only custodian of the Super Bantam Alpine Officer's hat.
