Laboratorio / Atelier
Every hat has a story, and the one of Gallia & Peter began in 1904, when Angela and Filippo Gallia opened their millinery business. After marrying the son of the Milanese milliner Cornelia Peter, Mariuccia Gallia participated in the first show of Italian hats at Palazzo Pitti in Florence in 1953 – since then, the brand has collaborated with important brands such as Walter Albini, Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Gianfranco Ferrè, Moschino and Gigli. Today, among the imposing palaces of Via Moscova, at number 60, the last generation of the family, Laura Marelli, showcases the family’s savoir-faire and keeps an archive of hats dating back to the late 1800s.

Gallia e Peter
Via Della Moscova, 60, Milano (Milano)
Gallia and Peter are the surnames of two lovers with a shared passion for millinery. The story begins in Turin in 1904 when Angela and Filippo Gallia made hats for the Royal House. Towards the end of the 1920s, her daughter Mariuccia moved to Milan and married the son of Cornelia Peter, a well-known milliner in the city. This union in 1930 led to the opening of the boutique in via Montenapoleone. After years of fairytale hats, in 1953 Gallia and Peter's hats paraded at Palazzo Pitti together with Jole Veneziani, Wanda Roveda and Mila Shön. A unique know-how that is passed down to his daughter Lia during the evolution of fashion and generations of stylists such as Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace and Gianfranco Ferrè. Today it is her granddaughter Laura Marelli, who grew up among the mirrors of the atelier always alongside her teachers, who creates works of art and tailor-made couture hats since 2010 in via della Moscova. Not just contemporary creations requested for Royal Ascot or special occasions, Gallia and Peter is also a heritage of millinery from the 19th century to today. Between veils, veils, hats, headbands, feathers and fascinators, here's how to immerse yourself in a refined and fun world.
