Via Volta, 6, Busto Arsizio (Varese)

In the park on Via Volta in Busto Arsizio, time, for a moment, stands still. The imposing building with neo-Gothic features, crenellated turrets and exposed red brick, used to be a manufactory. It housed the spinning department of the Carlo Ottolini Cotton Mill, which later became Bustese. Now, from the tall, ogival windows of the Textile Museum, light reflects off the looms and finishing machinery. The tools for marking, packaging and shipping the pieces, the labels with elegant graphics, all tell the story of an area that found its identity in textiles. Testimonies of a living past, such as the Experiences room, where it is possible to understand the transition from cotton staple to finished fabric. Examples of high fashion and innovative fibers are on the upper floors. For the more curious, a specialized library collects sample books, technical manuals and vintage magazines.
