One of the last silk production laboratories in the world: it is the Antico Setificio Fiorentino. From 1786 is the date that can be read on the coat of arms in San Frediano, Diladdarno village (as they say in Florence), although among the manual wooden and semi-mechanical looms there is also an eighteenth-century warping machine designed on a drawing by Leonardo Da Vinci . In the laboratory, magnificent fabrics are created as they were done in the Renaissance, in the very same place that was used as a warehouse for looms by the Gherardesca family or the Puccis. The latter were the owners of the Antico Setificio Fiorentino, which in 2010 passed to Maison Stefano Ricci, which today preserves the historical collections and passes on unique know-how. That of expert craftsmen, who rhythmically beat the looms and skilfully move the shuttles to compose fabrics that will cover historic buildings and villas with timeless charm. A Made in Italy heritage that recalls the history of the country but which continues to be renewed and which finds space in the reworking of yarns and color combinations, appreciated by fashion houses and Interior Designers from all over the planet.
