DAPHNÉ Sanremo
Laboratorio / Atelier
In via Matteotti 17 in the heart of the Sanremo Promenade, a stone's throw from the Casino and the Ariston Theatre. Precisely where Grace Kelly, Maria Callas and Dalidà were reflected in the glittering shop windows and marble walls. Here, in a former thirteenth-century convent, built on Roman foundations which in the nineteenth century belonged to the Duchess of Galliera (one of the first women to inspire the fashion of the time by freeing herself from the corset), is the Maison DAPHNÉ founded by Dafne Carlo and her husband , creator of perfumes Renzo Borsotto. A know-how that began as "petites mains" when Dafne was 14 years old, learning in the great tailors of Sanremo, and whose secrets, acquired over the years, can today be found in the atelier led by her daughters Monica and Barbara. A journey that smells of jasmine and May rose (the flowers of the territory) through the creations of the Sanremo laboratory which reveals and passes on high craftsmanship in its colorful scarves, the hemming of which can be seen directly. During ApritiModa, details and curiosities will be told by the protagonists Dafne, Barbara and Monica and it will be possible to see some clothes and accessories from the museum archive which brings together over two thousand pieces collected in the Daphné company museum of Fashion and Perfume.

DAPHNÉ Sanremo
Via Giacomo Matteotti, 17, Sanremo (Imperia)
Daphné Sanremo is pronounced in the French way because in the 1950s Italian tailoring, at the beginning of the true Italian Style/Made in Italy, was not yet recognized internationally. In those years, stylist Dafne Carlo and her husband, perfume creator, Renzo Borsotto, founded the historic company DAPHNÉ Sanremo which is still synonymous today with excellent craftsmanship and wonderful collections inspired by the flowers, colors and traditions of Liguria. The city of Sanremo, a point of reference, since the Belle Epoque, of the international aristocracy, frequented by the Monegasque jet set, like Princess Grace of Monaco, has made DAPHNÉ a point of reference for women who love to dress well by famous singers such as Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi and the talents of the Sanremo Festival such as Dalidà, Patty Pravo and Loredana Bertè. Passion and research from the ancient to the contemporary over the years have allowed us to create a rich company archive of clothes, accessories and documents collected in the company museum of Fashion and Perfume which today has more than two thousand items. Today, daughters Monica and Barbara Borsotto pass on the family know-how and develop sustainable projects for low environmental impact fashion (such as the use of orange fibre, organic cotton and Calabrian broom). Up to the initiatives aimed at gender equality, in which scarves and accessories are made by hand by training and offering work to women guests of shelters or by collaborating with prisons for projects with social commitment.
