In Sesto Fiorentino, a few kilometers from the historic Palazzo Spini Feroni headquarters in Florence, is the Ferragamo Archive, housed within the company's factory. Primarily it is an archive of products, documented in all aspects from design to final production. The archive thus includes extremely heterogeneous funds, including footwear, bags, small leather goods, clothing and silk accessories, as well as documents, patents, photographs, films and works of art. The various nuclei are divided into different conservation rooms that allow visitors to learn about and explore the history of the Maison by following both a thematic and chronological path.
On the occasion of ApritiModa, the Ferragamo Archive opens its doors with a special guided tour. Visitors will have access to a place usually available to in-house creative offices and fashion history scholars and will be able to discover Salvatore Ferragamo's ingenuity and precious savoir-faire, yesterday as well as today, a cornerstone of Made in Italy.

The history of the Ferragamo Archive goes hand in hand with that of Salvatore Ferragamo himself, who always had an aptitude for preserving prototypes, documents, photographs, even newspaper clippings related to his business. After his death in 1960, the Ferragamo family took over the leadership of the company and decided not only to preserve the entire heritage, but to nurture it year after year, with the same attitude as the founder.

If the company's first archivist was Salvatore Ferragamo, it is thanks to the commitment and passion of his eldest daughter-in-law, Fiamma, that the archive has been consolidated over the years, arriving today as a reality as vast as it is structured, organized in accordance with the highest conservation standards.

After her father's death, Fiamma Ferragamo took on the role of Creative Director of the women's shoes and leather sector and strongly supported the creation of the Ferragamo Museum (1995), one of the first business museums in Italy, and of an archive that could bear witness to Ferragamo's history and values to new generations as well.
