This isn’t just a place that tells the story of a territory and its workers. The old woolen mill of Stia (in the province of Arezzo) is a space that offers a sensory experience. The feel of natural fibers. The smells of carding oils, those of wool dyes and the sounds of machinery that transform fleece into fabric are not memories here, but moments to be experienced. An example of industrial archeology in the Casentino area (completely restored in 2007), it’ll fascinate you with its stone walls framed by brick vaults, and the large wheel at the entrance. The water turbines - which once animated the factory - are now enhanced by a glass wave in zinc and titanium that contains the new power plant. If you look at it from the bridge over the Staggia (a stream that flows into the Arno), you’ll feel like you’re in a painting.
