THE ANNUAL APPOINTMENT WITH APRITIMODA IS BACK

7 ottobre 2024

The 8th edition of the event to discover the excellence of Made in Italy kicks off on October 19th and 20th

ApritiModa returns on October 19th and 20th for the eighth consecutive year. The event, which has become an unmissable autumn appointment, was born from an idea by journalist Cinzia Sasso and consists of a journey to discover the behind-the-scenes of Italian fashion.Companies, workshops, and ateliers all across Italy will once again open their doors to the public for free visits, giving the chance to discover the beauty and secrets of Italian fashion, meet and talk with those who work every day to uphold the fame of Made in Italy through their products. The journey spans from creators of great couture dresses to jewelry sculptors, experts in the art of embroidery, makers of accessories such as headbands, hats, turbans, and even producers of sportswear in preparation for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics.
Expectations for ApritiModa are high once again this year, with approximately 4.5 million participation requests received in the first 24 hours, and over a third of the available spots booked within the first two days. This year, the event spans 11 regions, 31 provinces, 57 locations and 93 sites to visit.

Over the years, ApritiModa has opened the doors of world-renowned companies like Armani, Prada, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana, as well as smaller workshops such as Pino Grasso Ricami, Gallia & Peter Cappelli, Maglia handcrafted umbrellas, and Omega gloves from Naples, whose products are sold on Fifth Avenue, not to mention Sartoria Litrico, where a slice of "La Dolce Vita" history passed in front of its fitting mirror. Among the early supporters is Lineapelle - Unic, with its 30,000 leather samples, preserving a unique heritage. This year, visitors will have the chance to create small items (keychains, airpod covers) using leather scraps provided, participate in workshops exploring the art of Italian glove-making, or attend Giorgio Linea’s workshops to learn how to create decorative objects. The OTB Group, owned by Renzo Rosso, will open three of its Veneto sites this year: the headquarters and the knitwear workshop of Staff International, where collections for the group’s brands (including Maison Margiela, Marni, Jil Sander, and some Diesel lines) are produced, and Stephen, a historic footwear factory specializing in luxury shoes.
New to this edition is Fortuny, renowned for its collections of textiles and home accessories, produced using the same secret methods, ingredients, and machines conceived by founder Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo in the early 1900s and still housed in the historic factory on Giudecca Island, one of the most mysterious places in the world, where only owners and a few loyal staff are allowed entry. The Barilla Group will also display, for the first time, six of the precious dresses worn by Mina in the commercials directed by Piero Gherardi between 1966 and 1967. The exhibition, showcasing feathers, trains, and corsets, will take place at the group's headquarters in Pedrignano, near Parma.Heading south, new to the ApritiModa family is Barbarulo 1894 Napoli, whose passion, inherited through generations of jewelers, is today a constant pursuit - playing out on just 15 millimeters. This includes cufflinks made from the same fabrics worn by Toni Servillo in the Oscar-winning film The Great Beauty by Paolo Sorrentino. In the Venetian countryside, Barena Venezia, Tabarrificio Veneto, and Cini, companies founded by Sandro Zara, showcase the style of their region by reinterpreting timeless garments.

“We are always very pleased with the affection the public shows each year toward ApritiModa, which ensures its success,” says Cinzia Sasso. "Over the years, we’ve grown from the 14 open sites in 2017 to 100 last year, and 2023 saw the participation of 20,000 visitors. It’s a weekend to hear the stories of large and small companies that represent the excellence of Italy, and to observe their production processes. These are stories of businesses, artisans, and entrepreneurs who are a strength for the country's development, and they will share with the public the path that led them to success."
ApritiModa is a free event open to the public. Visitors can select their visit by booking on the ApritiModa.it website.

The collaboration between NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, and ApritiModa continues for this eighth edition with a contest, launched in collaboration with the Consorzio di Tutela della DOC Prosecco. Students from NABA’s BA in Graphic Design and Art Direction were asked to create designs for a digital campaign that will be featured on the Consorzio's social media profiles. The best proposal will be awarded in a ceremony on October 7th.
