Prosecco DOC

Prosecco DOC

Prosecco DOC is an Italian excellence, the expression of a well-defined territory, rich in tradition and with a favorable climate that bestows the Glera grape with great elegance, balance, and a contemporary appeal.

The Prosecco Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) was established in 2009 from the union of vine growers, winemakers, and bottlers from 9 Provinces across the Italian regions of Veneto (Treviso, Belluno, Padua, Venice, and Vicenza) and Friuli Venezia Giulia (Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste, and Udine) with the aim of inextricably linking this wine to its territory of origin.

The Consortium voluntarily brings together the different categories of producers—vine growers, winemakers, and sparkling wine houses—and has as its objectives the improvement and development of the Denomination, the implementation of promotional and enhancement actions, the safeguarding and protection of the denomination in Italy and abroad, and the adherence to the rules established by the Production Specification. The Protection Consortium protects and promotes the uniqueness of this wine, a global emblem of the Italian lifestyle. Here are the numbers of the most produced and most exported sparkling wine in the world: 28,100 hectares of vineyards, 12,107 vine-growing businesses, 1,046 winemaking businesses, 362 sparkling wine businesses, and a production of 660 million bottles in 2024, including 60 million bottles of vintage Prosecco DOC Rosé.

The Consorzio di Tutela del Prosecco DOC (Prosecco DOC Protection Consortium) has always supported the world of culture and art in many of its expressions. Over the years, it has gradually increased its commitment to activities aimed at fostering cultural and artistic initiatives, with particular attention to visual arts, music, and entertainment, intensifying its presence in the most diverse cultural sectors such as museums, the world of cinema, and fashion. The Consortium has thus created a network of connections and strong ties through which it is able to enhance the Italian Genius, found in the extensive tangible and intangible heritage that the whole world recognizes in the Bel Paese (Beautiful Country).

Prosecco DOC is a privileged partner in promoting and supporting all artistic expressions of the Italian Genius, which is why it supports the journey of ApritiModa, as a Partner and Official Sparkling Wine. This cooperation led to the creation of the first edition of the creative contest in 2022, where students from the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, NABA, challenged themselves to design a label for a limited edition of Prosecco DOC and Prosecco DOC Rosé. Given the success of the initiative, the same theme was proposed again for the 2023 edition. The contests for the two subsequent years, however, were dedicated to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, another strategic project through which the Consortium intends to communicate Italian excellence with innovative and contemporary languages. Specifically, students this year were invited to design a pattern for a neck warmer that would combine the world of winter sports with the elegance of the bubbles.

Fashion, wine, sports, and design thus intertwine in a collective story of an Italy that creates, inspires, and leaves its mark.
